Update: Deceased Woman Identified
The identity of a deceased woman that was found in an abandoned Cooper Street house on Monday has been released by the county coroner's office. Investigators from the Greenville County Coroner's Office and the Travelers Rest Police Department are treating the person’s death as suspicious right now.
Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans stated, “The decedent who was later identified as a 48 year old, white, female, Christina Michelle Duncan. Mrs. Duncan was found inside an abandoned residence at 5 Cooper Street in Travelers Rest. The death appears to be non-recent.
The investigation is in the early stages with limited details at this time pending further investigation. There are no obvious signs of trauma indicative to the cause of death. An autopsy was performed on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at which time the cause and manner of death was not immediately available and is pending further tests. This case is actively being investigated by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office and the Travelers Rest Police Department.
Chief of Police Benjamin Ford told media outlets that no one is currently living inside the home, so investigators are working to determine why the victim was there. According to Ford, The body was found when people went over to the property to get things they left there.
