TR Baseball Team Rallies To Defeat Chesnee
CHESNEE, SC - The Travelers Rest Devildogs spotted Chesnee's Eagles a 5-0 first inning lead and went on to take a 14-9 victory in non-region high school baseball.
TR pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning as Braeden Barrett hit a three run homer and Bryson Durham hit a one run single.
TR added four more runs in the seventh off of RBI's from Christian Crane, Jacob Highsmith and Caleb Mills. Devin Atkins was the winning pitcher for Travelers Rest and gave up three hits, five runs and struck out two.
The win improved Travelers Rest to 2-4 on the season. TR opened the season on February 28th with a 6-4 loss to Walhalla. On March 1st TR defeated Liberty 7-2. On March 5th Seneca downed TR 5-2 and on March 6th Woodmont downed TR 4-3.
Elsewhere in games involving Region 3 AAA teams, Broome fell to 0-4 on the season on Tuesday by way of a 15-8 loss to Woodruff; Carolina Academy fell to 3-3 on the year with a 19-4 loss to Greenville Tech Charter just one day after the Trojans downed arch rival Berea 3-2. Carolina travels to Berea on March 10th and hosts Chapman in a doubleheader on March 14th.
