City Signs Lease Agreement For North Poinsett Parking Lot

The City of Travelers Rest has signed lease agreements with Greenville Water and Resurrection Power Ministries Inc. The agreements would allow the city to incorporate a municipal parking lot at the corner of North Poinsett and Tubbs Mountain Road Extension. The area is the former location of Classic Events and prior to that it was the site of Batson's Grocery. The lot is currently dirt and is not paved but the plans are to pave the lot which would create 76 new parking places. A corner plaza with seating would take up the northeastern corner of the property and a sidewalk is proposed along the Tubbs Mountain Road Extension side of the parking lot. The site would also benefit residents and guests of Poinsett Commons Apartments as the property was allowed to develop without enough parking spaces. Travelers Rest also plans to improve this section of North Poinsett with a traffic and turn lanes at the intersection along with pedestrian cross walks. A timeline of these changes has not been released at this time.
